Its been a crazy week for me! I just finished "The Secrets We Hide" filming wise. Now, editing and voice over work. And now this week is filled with more surprises!
SEDGWICK & RUSSELL
So I started classes at last week! I was super excited to start this class with Catherine Russell who has been working on and off broadway for around 28 years and Rob Sedgwick, from several shows and films including one of my favorite franchises "Die Hard". I've already done two classes and am thoroughly enjoying myself! Its really nice to get back into the swing of things and really be immersed in the acting side of life again. I took this class primarily to brush up on all the things that I learned long ago in college and while doing community theater. For actors who want to try this class out. Its 6 weeks and their curriculum is very tight. I recommend going in with taking it as an acting 101 course. Rob and Cathy really work with you on beats, intention and what I've really dug is how they break down monologues. At first, I was a little confused with the reasoning behind it but as I saw the improvement myself and others in the class, I quickly realized "Oh!" I had never heard someone break down a monologue in the way they do.
I just had orientation for The Actors Project NYC this Monday. I'm not going to lie, I'm super excited but a little scared. Its a tough and rigorous curriculum that will be challenging. Since I am coming in at the end of the month, I will need to attend two classes before this month is up and memorize a monologue pretty much over night. They do have monologues online that you can purchase and choose from in advance. Which is what I am doing since I have such limited time. I haven't taken a class yet but I will keep you updated on these. A friend of mine Brittanie Sheree told me she worked with them on one season and loved it! Got inquiriese right away and is planning on doing their 34th Season with me. Right now, in Season 33, I am taking the class with my good friend Amey Goetz, who is relatively new to acting! (But You'd never know it!)
The TAPNYC boasts about getting over 75% of their performers work with agents, casting directors and managers. They treat classes seriously and from what I can tell, are no joke! They also say "You get what you put into it." Which I feel is like most things anyway! Again will keep you updated on this!
I'm a woman of all trades. Love what I do and I do what I love.
